About Christopher Albert Folgueras, M.D.
As an anesthesiologist with training in cardiothoracic anesthesiology and critical care medicine, I seek to be an integral part in caring for the hospital’s sickest patients. I work with multidisciplinary teams to provide comprehensive and compassionate care that is tailored towards patient needs and incorporates the cutting edge of evidence-based medicine. While the ICU can be a complex and harrowing experience for patients, I hope to be an asset towards their recovery, and mitigate the worst parts of their critical illness to the best of my abilities and training.
Christopher Folgueras is a board-certified critical care physician and anesthesiologist. He has additionally completed a fellowship in adult cardiothoracic anesthesiology, practicing in all three clinical domains.
Dr. Folgueras grew up in Ellicott City, Maryland. He attended the University of Maryland, College Park, where he completed a Bachelor of Science in physiology and neurobiology, and a minor in Spanish language, business and cultures. He then went on to complete his medical degree at Georgetown University School of Medicine.
Dr. Folgueras completed his residency in anesthesiology at NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia University Irving Medical Center. Inspired by his experiences in both the critical care units and cardiac operating rooms, he pursued and completed an additional two years of subspecialty training in critical care and adult cardiothoracic anesthesiology. He also holds Testamur status in advanced perioperative transesophageal echocardiography.
Finally, Dr. Folgueras is natively fluent in Spanish. His clinical interests include using simulation in medical education and resident education within the clinical spheres he participates.
