About Lisa Gfrerer, M.D., Ph.D.
Lisa Gfrerer, MD, PhD, is Associate Professor of Plastic Surgery at AVÑо¿Ëù, Director of the Head and Facial Pain Program, and President of the Migraine Surgery Society. She completed her PhD, plastic surgery residency, and advanced fellowship training in peripheral nerve surgery and microsurgery at Harvard Medical School and Mass General Brigham.
Dr. Gfrerer is a peripheral nerve, breast, and aesthetic surgeon and NIH-funded translational investigator. Her clinical and research programs focus on headache and facial pain, breast and chest reinnervation, and the preservation and restoration of nerve function in reconstructive and aesthetic surgery. Her research integrates artificial intelligence, advanced nerve imaging, clinical outcomes, and technology development to advance the diagnosis and treatment of peripheral nerve conditions.
Dr. Gfrerer holds leadership positions in national societies in peripheral nerve and plastic surgery and is actively involved in surgical innovation and entrepreneurship, translating emerging technologies from research into clinical care.
